AC Shadows Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season

In a unexpected collaboration that breaks traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal release, "A mysterious encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of banned ceremonies and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The storyline presents a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine group.

The questline focuses on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Metamorphoses

The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Additional Material

Players who accomplish the mission will acquire an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

  • Titan-based costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa costume for Naoe
  • Unique arms
  • Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Update

This update also adds the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Previous Japanese Animation Partnerships

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
